Bucks Gone Wild is a small rabbitry located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We are dedicated to breeding quality lionhead rabbits. We have a small herd with about 50 holes in the rabbitry not including the newborn kits. We have gathered some very impressive breeding stock from reputable breeders in Canada and the United States. We are trying to focus on quality and are very grateful to other breeders who have given us a head start  with some outstanding animals and have shared their success and wisdom.

I have bred rabbits (and other animals) since childhood. My first rabbit breeding experience was with Netherland Dwarfs. However I spotted a Lionhead bunny at a local pet auction and after purchasing her I studied the pedigree that was supplied to me. I haven't stopped researching and studying since. This is a fascinating breed and there is always more to learn. I decided to start a breeding program of my own and to see how I can develop quality and personality in this relatively new breed. I am producing lionhead bunnies that well represent the breed in type, mane, overall appearance and personality.

At my first ever Rabbit Show 2 does from my first litter took 2 Best in Breed Ribbons and a Best of Opposite Sex of Breed.  I was instantly hooked. Buks Gone Wild Rabbitry has had an impressive show record since then. Since the Lionhead breed is relatively new to North America it is not fully recognized by ARBA.. Although most shows accept Lionhead entries for exhibition there is work yet to do to have the breed officially recognized. Currently there are several Certificates of Development with ARBA for a variety of colours in the Lionhead breed. The current first COD holder is Theresa Mueller of Pridelands Rabbitry. Congratulations and thanks to Theresa for her recent successful first passing of REW, Black and Tort Lionheads.  Once the breed has passed its presentation three times in a colour it can be recognized by ARBA. Thanks to Pridelands for taking up this important work for the breed. If one wants to show or learn more about a lionhead you can find a copy of the current Lionhead Standard found on the Pridelands website.

Lionheads have come a long way in quality and the best part of working in this breed is that there is a large network of devoted breeders in Canada and in the USA that are passionate about these bunnies.  They are enthused about continuing to improve lionhead quality and to match the Breed Standard as closely as possible. You will see many of these rabbitry names reflected in the pedigrees on my site. I have added the pedigrees for my rabbits where possible. It is my belief  that you get to where you are, knowing where you have been.  I find that breeding quality animals is a good reflection of that philosophy. I  like to look at pedigrees. They help me make sense of where I am and where I want to head to next, and of course a cute picture or two doesn't hurt either!

Feel free to browse my website and  email if you like. I have included contact information on the site.
